WeSquare was founded by Walter and Wiebe, two IT professionals with over 25 years of experience in software development, architecture, and project management.

After years of working with Indian IT partners, they recognized the strong potential of combining Dutch technical expertise and customer focus with Indian technical capabilities and scalability—provided the collaboration is well structured.

In practice, however, they encountered two major challenges:

Cultural differences
In India, a hierarchical work culture prevails, where people rarely say “no” to a supervisor. As a result, issues were sometimes raised too late, or solutions were executed too literally, leaving little room for initiative. Open communication and transparency were often lacking, which led to lower software quality or delays in delivery.

High employee turnover
Many Indian IT professionals frequently change employers in pursuit of higher salaries, which negatively impacts team continuity and knowledge retention.

For this reason, Walter and Wiebe decided to take a different approach.

Instead of working through local partners, they established their own branch in India: WeSquare India—fully managed from the Netherlands. This enabled them to build a company where people come first and Dutch and Indian values reinforce one another.
